Woodstock has two Church Schools within the Parish
The Woodstock Church of England Primary School Woodstock CE Primary School - Home for children aged 3-11 and The Marlborough C of E School Welcome to The Marlborough C of E School for those aged 11 to 18. Both schools are well regarded, popular and over-subscribed.
Foundation governors are appointed by the church to both schools to support the Headteacher and staff in maintaining the schools’ Christian ethos and values, and to provide direction, challenge and support.
The lay Chaplain is a key member of staff at the Marlborough School. This appointment was originally made possible by funding from the Woodstock Youth Work Trust www.Woodstockyouthworktrust.co.uk which St. Mary Magdalene and other churches in Woodstock support. The Chaplain’s work with pupils and staff was so highly valued that the school now employs him directly on a part time basis. He has also recently started to spend some time each week in Woodstock Primary School which additionally provides a valuable link between the Primary and Secondary schools. It is hoped, in the near future, to extend the chaplaincy work to include other local feeder schools.
The Chaplain and the parish clergy lead regular acts of collective worship in both schools and pupils visit the church for special services and as part of their RE lessons.
