Music at St. Mary Magdalene, Woodstock
Music is very much part of our community life at St. Mary Magdalene: in our services, at social events and in frequent concerts which take place in the church.
Ian Blunsden is our regular organist for church services as well as frequently playing for Weddings and Funerals. Other local organists help out when Ian is unavailable. As Choir Director, Ian takes regular rehearsals for both adult and junior choirs on Wednesday evenings. The Choir lead the singing at special services and roughly once a month at the Sunday Parish Eucharist. When the choir are not leading the music, one of our Cantors is usually present to sing an anthem during the service and to generally lead the congregational singing.
The church is an excellent venue for concerts and the parish itself organises frequent events as well as welcoming other organisations who wish to hire the venue for concerts.
