Bells at St. Martin’s Church, Bladon

St. Martin’s Church has a peal of six bells (6-1-18), the last three bells were recast in 1883, and an enthusiastic team of ringers.

Bell ringing practice takes place on Tuesday at 8pm. Anyone interested in joining the team either as a beginner or an experienced ringer should contact the Tower Captain, Bill Corser (bill.corser@gmail.com 01993 813071).

The bells are rung every Sunday morning at 9am, ahead of the 9.30am Parish Eucharist and also to mark special occasions and events

It’s not necessary to be a church-goer to ring the bells!

More details about the individual bells and their specifications are available in Dove’s guide https://dove.cccbr.org.uk/tower/10902 where a list of the peals rung can also be found.

In June 2015 the Church bells rang out in Oxfordshire to mark the 50th anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill's funeral.

A full peal of bells was held at his final resting place to echo the one performed at his burial. It lasted for two hours and 40 minutes - the same as the original.
