About Vocallegro

The male-voice choir Vocallegro was founded in 1996 at the church of St Nikolai in
Hamburg under the direction of Arpad Christian Thuroczy. The aim was to create a
body of sound that interprets choral music for male voices in exemplary fashion and
at a high artistic level.

In the short time of its existence, Vocallegro has established itself as a unique and
integral part of Hamburg's musical life and has acquired a considerable reputation.
The repertoire of the 25-strong group of singers includes sacred and secular choral
music of all eras. Spirituals and popular songs complete the versatile programme.
In Hamburg, Vocallegro can be heard regularly in church services at St Nikolai. The
ensemble organizes concerts several times a year in northern Germany and
performs at civic and church functions.
