We are delighted to announce that all building and re-ordering work was ready for handover on the expected date: today, Friday 27th October 2017.
Now begin the final two weeks of preparing the interior for our re-opening. The chairs arrive next week, the screen soon after; cleaning teams are volunteering, the PCC are gathering with sleeves rolled up and the Rector is brimming with emotion, showing equal parts delight and anticipation for the moment we can fling wide the doors once again. 8pm, November 9th will soon be upon us with the re-opening and re-dedication, and we will be ready. Praise the Lord for all that has been done.
Almost 6 months have gone by since St Mary Magdalene's was closed for refurbishment, and the final days before the building was to be handed back have been a whirlwind of lighting commissioning, snagging details, audio-visual system training, heating training, cleaning and inspections. Hudson has continued to bring a command and sense of humour to every challenge as site foreman; we are immensely grateful to him, and to all involved.
There are plenty of photos of the last few weeks below, if you would like to see...
We look forward to welcoming you all back into the building on November 9th. We ask for your prayers; for the building, the community and the continuing work and mission of our church.
